PRIMARY PURPOSE:

 

To assist the Director with the responsibility and operation of budgets while emphasizing synergistic relationships, continuous improvement, and implementation of systems and processes that enhance student learning and working environment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED, required

Business or technical school, preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of general office duties.

Computer experience is required; working knowledge of several computer programs is necessary to perform job, preferred

 

Experience:

Three (3) years experience working with budgets, accounts receivable and accounts payable, preferred

 

Workdays:  226

 

Pay Date:  Monthly

 

Clerical/Technical Pay Structure: Pay Grade 4

 

Hourly Pay Range:

Minimum:   $18.00

Midpoint:    $21.43

Maximum:  $24.86

 

Note:  Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1. Assist in preparing and typing budgets for department.

 

2. Utilize the in-house computer system to retrieve funding information on program components.

 

3. Implement and maintain bookkeeping procedures for completed budgets in order to maintain accurate records of allocations and expenditures.

 

4. Maintain proper documentation on all information required for local, state and federal audit purposes.

 

5. Process purchase orders/authorize payment and assist Accounting Department for payment of invoices.

 

6. Assist campuses with their allocation; maintain files and ledger for all campuses.

 

7. Prepare paperwork required of annual budget and amend budgets/type forms/purchase orders.

 

8. Reimburse teachers as needed and distribute checks.

 

9. Implement bookkeeping procedures for the completed budgets in order to maintain accurate records of allocations and expenditures as needed.

  

10. Review and adjust budget computer printouts on a monthly basis with the Director for Special Education Department and any other grants awarded to the District and/or campuses.

 

11. Prepare in-district amendments to balance with TEA approved Standard Application System or with State amendments to place the funds in correct and proper accounts for the appropriate needs of the program components and keep all program budget in balance.

 

12. Assist in the preparation and submission of all necessary reports as required by the Texas Education Agency.

 

13. Keep Director and other staff members informed on the approximate amount of federal funds available and provide information as to how funds are being expended. Maintain proper documentation of all information required for local, state and federal audit purposes.

 

14. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.

 

15. Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
