Position Overview
The HR Generalist – Gulf provides full-cycle HR support to Bigge Crane & Rigging's workforce across the Gulf Coast region, based in Houston. This role partners with leadership on employee relations, policy interpretation and compliance, onboarding/offboarding, and workforce planning, serving as the primary point of contact for HR matters in the region. This is a new position created to establish dedicated HR coverage for the Gulf Coast as Bigge's footprint in the region grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for craft, service, and office personnel across the Gulf Coast region.
- Manage employee relations matters — including investigations, performance issues, and conflict resolution — in partnership with the Director of Human Resources.
- Administer and interpret company policy, the employee handbook, and applicable federal and state employment law across the Gulf region (Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and other southern states as Bigge's footprint requires).
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes for new and departing employees in the region.
- Partner with the Recruiters (craft/service technician and general recruiting) on hiring needs specific to the Gulf region.
- Coordinate with the HRIS & Benefits Manager on enrollment, leave administration, and system updates for regional employees.
- Support workforce planning, headcount forecasting, and organizational changes within the region.
- Maintain compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations across the states covered by this role.
- Travel periodically to offices throughout the Gulf Coast region.
- Perform other HR generalist duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2–4 years of HR generalist experience.
- Working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment law across the Gulf region (Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and other southern states as applicable).
- Strong employee relations, investigation, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to travel regularly within the Gulf Coast region.

Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ADP (Bigge's HRIS platform).
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification (or in progress).
- Experience supporting a unionized or partially unionized workforce.
- Experience in construction, crane and rigging, heavy equipment, or other industrial/field-based industries.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment
Primarily office-based, with some travel to other branches. Must be able to safely navigate industrial work environments and comply with site-specific safety requirements, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
