Job Description

 

 

The Patient Coordinator schedules patients for pre-admission services; data collection and input; answers phone and orders all supplies for the department. Must promote and demonstrate strong customer service skills with physicians and their staff, as well as persons coming into contact with the Pre-Operative Assessment Center. The Patient Coordinator carries the responsibility of acting as an entry point for the patient into the hospitals system. All job duties are to be completed in a manner that is consistent with the highest quality of guest relations, which results in a positive experience for the patient and/or his/her family member(s).

 

SHIFT AND SCHEDULE

Full Time, Monday-Friday; 8:00 AM -5:00 PM

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

· Responsible for coordinating and scheduling elective procedure patients for pre-operative appointment where registration, diagnostic testing, and education are completed.
· Provides secretarial support for unit (answering phone calls, ordering and maintaining stock of office supplies, etc.).
· Demonstrates appropriate communication and interpersonal skills to enhance teamwork and collaborates with healthcare team to enhance daily workflow.
· Strong computer and multi-tasking skills, in order to become proficient with required computer
programs and tasks associated with the position.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· High school graduate or equivalent degree required

• Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear.
• Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff.
• The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits
