Accounting Assistant

JOB TITLE: Accounting Clerk

DEPARTMENT: Administration

REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Qualified candidates will assist senior Accounting personnel with the following tasks:

• Handles AP Processes, to include research, coding, entry, and processing for accurate and timely disbursement to vendors.
• Research discrepancies, investigates charges/fees.
• Keeps detailed and organized documentation of records.
• Assist with the annual preparation and filing Federal 1099 reporting including obtaining vendor documentation 
• Create Accounts Receivable invoices
• Light physical duties such as lifting files and boxes
• Other duties as assigned by senior or administrative management.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Three or more years of general accounting experience. 
• Must have demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and use time efficiently. 
• A high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. 
• Experience with Deltek Vision preferred. 
• Excellent candidates should have a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team. 

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma required
• Associate degree or relevant certification is a plus
• 3+ years of accounting experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Applications
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• General knowledge and understanding of accounting principles such as debits and credits and cash vs. accrual accounting
• Proficient in simple mathematical calculations and algebraic knowledge
• Familiarity with and ability to interpret simple financial documents
