Introduction

Our client, a small well-established firm, based in Randburg is looking for a Payroll Administrator with a robust personality to join their team. 

The candidate needs to be based in Johannesburg, have strong bargaining council and Pastel Payroll experience. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform full monthly bookkeeping functions, including maintaining accurate financial records and reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit Value-Added Tax (VAT) returns in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Handle submission of disputes with SARS and liaise with relevant authorities on behalf of clients
  • Attend SARS appointments with clients to assist in resolving queries and compliance matters
  • Manage and resolve custom client queries, including RLA system matters and application of APN numbers
  • Prepare and submit company income tax returns and individual tax returns
  • Calculate and submit provisional tax returns accurately and within deadlines
  • Compile and prepare annual financial statements using CaseWare
  • Administer and manage full payroll functions of 30 payroll entities ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. One payroll includes weekly wages. Payroll overall is for +-557 employees
  • The payroll function includes the following:
    • Payslips
    • Monthly EMP201 submissions and ensuring all clients have paid by the deadline
    • Assisting with the correct reports etc for the EMP501 submissions
    • Workmans Compensation submissions (RMA and ROE Labour) and assisting with letter of goodstandings
    • UIF Declaration submission
    • UIF Documents for Maternity leave, dismissals etc
    • Contracts for new employees, letting the client know when the contracts are up for renewal
    • Letters for employees as and when requested
    • Tax Directives for retrenchments as well as for CCMA payouts
    • Sanlam and Liberty Provident fund- Adding employees to the system, ensuring their contact details etc is always updated. Monthly reconciliation between the Payroll and the Provident Fund report. Where needed assist with the Two Pot withdrawals. Submission of Sanlam Exit withdrawals
    • Medical aid deductions on payroll and ensuring the payroll balances back to the medical aid statement
    • Ensuring the leave balances are correct
    • MIBFA Monthly Submissions 
  • National Bargaining council for Road Freight function this includes:
    • Adding Employees to the bargaining council under correct category
    • Monthly Leave submissions 
    • Bargaining council leave reconciliations to the payroll 
    • Submission of termination payouts 
    • Submission of sick leave bonus payouts 
    • Submission of bonus pay outs in December and ensuring that balances back to the contributions on the payroll. 
    • Reconciliation of the monthly D form to the payroll report
       

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation and SARS processes
  • Proficiency in CaseWare and Pastel Payroll
  • 5+ years of bargaining council experience 
  • Own vehicle 
  • Johannesburg-based 
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving and client service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently

Package & Remuneration

R30,000 to R35,000 depending on experience
