Construction Bookkeeper (Full Time, Florida) 6421
Better-ProsBetterPros unlocks human potential by offering competitive compensation, flexibility, constant learning and growth, and the opportunity to work anywhere you want with one of our +130 active clients across the United States.
What you'll do
-
Maintain accurate financial records across 5 to 8 active construction projects simultaneously.
-
Own construction job costing end to end, including cost codes, purchase orders, committed costs, change orders, and work in progress (WIP).
-
Process a high volume of subcontractor and vendor invoices (roughly 600 per project), including receipt photos submitted by project managers directly from the jobsite.
-
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments, accurate coding, and properly supported records.
-
Prepare and submit construction loan draw packages, adapting to each bank's specific rules, formats, and documentation requirements for disbursements.
-
Handle complex billing scenarios, such as spec homes sold mid-construction where the bank loan funds the base structure while additions and change orders are billed directly to the end client.
-
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, ensuring every transaction is accurately recorded and supported.
-
Keep QuickBooks Online and Buildertrend aligned so the accounting system reflects the real status of each project in the field.
-
Track job profitability at the project level, flagging cost overruns, margin erosion, and budget variances before they become problems.
-
Identify accounting issues, investigate discrepancies, and escalate them to management with clear context and recommended solutions.
-
Absorb the existing accounting process during a smooth, agile transition from the outgoing fractional CFO, and take full ownership from there.
-
Maintain organized financial records, strengthen internal controls, and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.

-
