HR Generalist


Job Summary

This position reports directly to the HR Manager and works in collaboration with the broader HR team and cross-functional stakeholders, including Finance and business leaders across multiple SK entities under the HR Shared Services organization.


The Human Resource Generalist supports a broad range of Human Resources operational and administrative functions, including HRIS administration, employee lifecycle management, records management, recruiting coordination, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance activities, and employee support. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate HR records, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies, and delivering responsive HR services across the organization.


This is a fully on-site position based in Houston, TX. Physical presence in the office is an essential function of this role. Remote work or hybrid arrangements are not available for this position.

Essential Functions


HR Operations

  • Maintain accurate employee data and records within HRIS and other HR information systems.
  • Process employee lifecycle transactions including new hires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, leaves of absence, and terminations.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding activities, including required documentation, system updates, orientation, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with employee benefits administration and leave management, including FMLA, STD, and other applicable leave programs.
  • Support payroll-related HR activities by validating employee data and coordinating with Payroll as needed.
  • Prepare employment-related documents, forms, and correspondence while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

HR Compliance & Records Management

  • Maintain, organize, and archive personnel files and HR documentation in accordance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local record retention requirements.
  • Perform periodic audits of employee files, HR records, and electronic documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Support HR compliance activities, including document retention, required postings, employment verification, reporting, and internal process documentation.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing records, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Support HR data clean-up, system maintenance, and records reconciliation projects.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Coordinate recruiting activities, including posting positions, scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, and maintaining applicant tracking records.
  • Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process by coordinating interviews and facilitating pre-employment activities.
  • Conduct new hire orientation and assist in creating a positive onboarding experience.
  • Maintain recruiting documentation and ensure timely completion of pre-employment and onboarding requirements.

Employee Relations & HR Support

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and general employment matters.
  • Assist in documenting employee relations matters and maintain appropriate case documentation under the guidance of HR leadership.
  • Support HR communications, employee engagement initiatives, and departmental projects.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and company information.
  • Record, report, and escalate concerns involving workplace misconduct, policy violations, harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, or other employee relations matters in accordance with company policies.

Other Duties

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance HR processes and operational efficiency.
  • Perform other HR-related duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume administrative and documentation responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional internal customer service.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of Human Resources experience in HR operations, HR administration, or a related HR support role preferred.
  • Experience working with HRIS platforms (e.g., Paylocity, Workday, SAP, or similar systems) preferred.
  • Experience in a corporate, manufacturing, or multi-entity environment preferred.
