At Dairy Queen of Tyler, our people are the heart of everything we do. We're looking for an energetic, organized, and people-focused HR & Talent Acquisition Specialist to help us attract, hire, and support exceptional team members across our restaurant locations.

This position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys recruiting, building relationships, and creating a positive employee experience. The primary focus of this role is full-cycle recruiting and talent acquisition, while also supporting HR compliance, employee benefits, Workers' Compensation, unemployment claims, and company policy administration.

The HR & Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for managing the recruitment process from sourcing candidates through recruiting while ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies. This role partners closely with restaurant leadership to meet staffing goals, maintain HR compliance, administer employee benefits, coordinate Workers' Compensation and unemployment claims, and support employee relations across multiple Dairy Queen of Tyler locations.

Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Recruiting 
  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for restaurant and support office positions.
  • Partner with restaurant managers to identify hiring needs and develop effective recruiting strategies.
  • Create and manage job postings across online job boards, and recruiting platforms.
  • Source, screen, interview, and coordinate candidates throughout the hiring process.
  • Schedule interviews and collaborate with hiring managers to make timely hiring decisions.
  • Extend employment offers and coordinate pre-employment requirements.
  • Build talent pipelines for future hiring needs and maintain relationships with qualified candidates.
  • Track recruiting metrics, hiring trends, and staffing needs to support operational goals.
  • Represent Dairy Queen of Tyler at job fairs, hiring events, and community recruiting opportunities.
HR Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Assist with I-9 verification, E-Verify processing, and maintain employment eligibility documentation.
  • Maintain accurate employee personnel files and HR records.
  • Track required employee training, certifications, and compliance deadlines.
  • Assist with HR reporting, audits, and documentation.
Benefits Administration
  • Assist employees with benefit enrollments, changes, and qualifying life events.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding health insurance and company benefit programs.
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate benefit deductions and employee records.
Workers' Compensation & Unemployment
  • Manage Workers' Compensation claims from incident reporting through resolution.
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers, medical providers, restaurant management, and employees.
  • Maintain required claim documentation and OSHA-related records when applicable.
  • Respond to unemployment claims, prepare supporting documentation, and assist with hearings as needed.
Employee Policies & Handbook
  • Maintain and update the company employee handbook to reflect current policies and employment laws.
  • Communicate policy updates and HR initiatives to employees and managers.
  • Provide guidance to management regarding policy interpretation and consistent application.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture through employee engagement and HR best practices.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience with a strong emphasis on recruiting and talent acquisition.
  • Experience managing full-cycle recruiting in a fast-paced or high-volume environment.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Experience with Workers' Compensation and unemployment claims administration.
  • Experience supporting employee benefits administration.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR software systems.
Preferred
  • Previous Human Resources experience in the restaurant, hospitality, retail, or multi-unit industry.
  • Experience with Restaurant365 (R365).
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and online recruiting platforms.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar HR certification is a plus.
