The Sr. Human Resources Generalist serves as a strategic and operational partner across the organization, leading employee relations, performance management, HR policy administration, and compliance with employment laws and regulations. This role provides expert guidance to managers and employees while ensuring HR processes are efficient, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.

The Sr. HR Generalist leverages data and HR systems to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement, supports training and development initiatives, and partners cross-functionally to strengthen organizational effectiveness and company culture. Additionally, this role contributes to employee engagement and retention strategies, and key HR initiatives that support the overall employee experience.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to managers and employees, and resolving conflicts or disputes.
  • Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company standards.
  • Lead and manage the annual performance management process, including facilitating evaluations, coaching managers, and supporting employee development.
  • Identify shoreside training and development needs; design, coordinate, and/or deliver training programs to support organizational effectiveness and employee professional development. 
  • Stay current on employment laws and regulations, interpreting legal requirements, and advising management on compliance issues and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine HR processes to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Analyze HR metrics and process performance to drive data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement. 
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align HR initiatives with business objectives and reinforce company culture. 
  • Manage employee offboarding process, analyzing and developing strategies to promote employee retention and engagement.
  • May assist with compensation and benefits program administration, including annual compensation survey submissions and results analysis. 
  • Perform other assignments as required. 


Minimum Educational and Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Seven + years of progressive Human Resources experience required 
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal fair employment practices laws.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management and staff.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • High level of integrity, professionalism and ability to handle confidential information with discretion. 
  • Regular travel to other facilities as needed.

Preferred Educational and Job Qualifications:

  • Experience within a transportation or logistics environment.
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now HRIS System 
  • Experience working with multiple state locations.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.


Physical Capabilities:

  • This position will work in an office environment setting.
  • Ability to use general office equipment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
